At a meeting on 29 October, the Tryavna Municipal Council raised the minimum and maximum fares for taxi services. The proposal was tabled by the municipal administration following a request from a representative of ‘Ekotaxi’, who highlighted the higher costs faced by transport operators and the problem of unregulated transport services. The minimum daytime fare has been set at €0.80 per kilometre, and the night-time fare at €0.90.

The Council also approved a contract with the Plachkovtsi State Forestry Enterprise for the management of the municipality’s forests. The term is 30 months, rather than the proposed three years. The municipality’s forest areas cover nearly 2,300 hectares. Revenue will be allocated such that 70 per cent remains with the forestry enterprise and 30 per cent goes to the municipality.

The Municipal Council has launched a new procedure to select a director for the ‘Dr Teodosy Vitanov’ General Hospital, after the previous competition was terminated because not a single candidate was admitted to the next stage. The composition of the selection committee and the remuneration of its members, set at 80 per cent of the minimum wage, have been approved.

The Municipal Council has approved the submission of a project proposal on active living and healthy ageing for people aged 55 and over under the ‘Human Resources Development’ Programme 2021–2027. The maximum funding is €69,740 with no own contribution required. The Council also supported an application for an interest-free loan from the central budget for the first phase of street reconstruction in Tryavna, under a contract with the State Fund ‘Agriculture’, worth €433,496.

What does that mean?

  • Taxi operators in Tryavna will operate under the new minimum and maximum fares set by the municipal council.
  • Forest managers in municipal forests will receive 70 per cent of the revenue, whilst the municipality will receive 30 per cent, for a period of 30 months.

In numbers

  • €0.80 per kilometre Minimum daily fare for taxi journeys
  • 30 months: Term of the contract for the management of municipal forests
  • Approximately 2,300 hectares: the area of municipal forest land
  • €69,740 Maximum funding per project for active living
