On 27 October, Gabrovo Municipality publicly presented two conceptual proposals for the reconstruction and modernisation of the Central Municipal Market. The programme included meetings with architects, representatives of professional associations and members of the public.

The designers explained the planned changes, and visitors were able to ask questions. The concepts and brief summaries have been published on the municipality’s website in the ‘News’ section, on the page ‘Reconstruction and modernisation of the municipal market’.

On the same page, there is an online survey in which members of the public can indicate which of the two concepts they prefer and why. The local council has stated that the aim is for the market to combine commerce with opportunities for social interaction, cultural events and community life.

The investment project and the architect’s supervision have been awarded to ‘ADA – Agency for Design and Architecture’ Plc following a public tender. At present, the cost of the construction, the timeframe and the source of funding have not been announced.

What does that mean?

  • Traders and entrepreneurs who use or wish to use the market can share their views via the survey.
  • The refurbishment is currently at the design stage. The timetable and funding for the construction work have not yet been announced.
